A gay man, the Countess, hires her as a model for his business venture – feminine hygiene products. Instead of hiding her thumbs in shame, Sissy uses them to hitchhike all around the United States. Tom Robbins introduces us to Sissy Hankshaw, a woman born with enormous thumbs (no, I don’t know why). It more closely resembled a dump of the author’s philosophical views, with some characters thrown in. It wasn’t the gripping tale of female cowgirls chasing their freedom I expected it to be. In fact, I’ve been putting this off because I’m not sure how to write about Even Cowgirls Get the Blues.

I…am not entirely sure how to describe this novel to you.

We’re going to briefly acknowledge the fact that I’m way behind, I will apologize profusely, and then we will move on.
